Big news today: ASMPT SMT Solutions is facing a possible divestiture, joint venture, or spinoff and public listing. This includes the DEK printers, SIPLACE electronics assembly placement machines, and several other lines.
ASMPT acquired the division from Siemens in 2011. Back when I entered the #SMT industry in 1991, Siplace was one of the state-of-the-art platforms, along with Philips (which later was sold to Kulicke & Soffa, which announced last year plans to shut it down). How things change.
Still, the lines have always been major players in the electronics assembly space. It will be fascinating to see where this ends up.
